Uniform

We have the highest expectations for every child at Rusper Primary School, and children are encouraged to take pride in their own appearance whilst valuing their own property and that of others.

Uniform Guide 2025/26

At Rusper Primary School we want our children to have a sense of community and security and for these reasons, we have a school uniform, including a P.E. kit.

Our uniform supplier is Taylor Made Uniforms

Our aim is to ensure that this policy provides a reasonable and sustainable approach to uniform as well as providing a shared identity and common sense of purpose. We have considered these factors when developing and reviewing our Uniform Policy:

  • Assessed the overall cost implication.
  • Avoiding frequent changes.
  • Considered how costs affect different groups of pupils.
  • Considered how the cost of their uniform might affect each group represented at the school, especially children who belong to groups with a particular protected characteristic.
  • Avoid the need for additional uniform for extra-curricular activities.
  • Engaged with uniform suppliers.
With this in mind, our agreed uniform and P.E. kit is compulsory and consists of;
  • Grey trousers, skirt or pinafore
  • White polo shirt, blouse or shirt
  • Bottle green sweater, cardigan or school sweatshirt
  • Green/white summer dress (optional)
  • Low-heeled black shoes (completely black trainers are acceptable, but no different coloured logos please)
  • Wellingtons

 For P.E. the uniform comprises:

  • Blue or red T-shirt and/or sweatshirt (according to house)
  • Black shorts
  • Tracksuit trousers for outdoor activities in winter months
  • Plimsolls (preferably black)
  • Football boots or old trainers (Year 3 - 6)
Early Years Foundation Stage

Children in our early years foundation stage will require wellingtons to be kept in school, preferably with a wet weather jacket and trousers as their curriculum allows for time spent outside throughout the year and in all standard conditions.

Jewellery

Your child is able to wear a watch (with the exception of smart watches) and a paid of small stud earrings, if their ears are pierced.

Hair

Hair that is shoulder length or longer must be tied back and remain tied back for the whole school day. Please check your child's hair regularly for head lice so that we are able to avoid class infestations. Thank you for your support in this matter.

Hair accessories should be kept plain and simple, and in school colours.

If your child wears a hijab please ensure this is green or black in line with the school uniform colours.

Make-up and nail varnish

Children are not allowed to wear either make-up or nail varnish to school.

Labelling ALL uniform - including shoes and hats

It is vital that everything your child brings into school is named with a permanent marker or name label. If you have labelled ALL their items, then we can ensure that they are reunited with their owners quickly.

Book bags, Rucksacks & Pencil cases

Every child needs a book bag to bring to school daily, Early years do not require pencil cases.

Spare Clothes

It is advisable that a spare change is brought into school at the start of term and kept in your childs locker in case they need a change during the school day for any reason.

RPS also offers second hand uniform through the School PTA, FORPS. Please contact FORPS for availability.
